The first Chakra you develop, the Root chakra is your support bridge. Its a foundation that ties you to earth and to your family and ancestors. It teaches you how to survive. It directly influences your finances, work , family, home life, safety and security. You feeling like you belong in your body, feeling whole. It's located at the base of the spine and is associated with the element of earth and affects your sense of smell. It governs your feet, legs, perineum, and rectum. There are things that can weaken this energy, your past life experiences, your current life experiences, your ancestors experiences, work, your significant other, friends, family, everything. As an infant, if your care givers consistently provided you what you needed to survive, then you felt secure in the world. The world felt safe, like it can be trusted to provide your basic needs. But if your environment was chaotic and your caregivers withheld, delayed, or were inconsistent with in giving you what needed, the you will lack trust and security, finding yourself imbalanced, feeling off. Imbalance in life force energy in the Root Chakra can leave us feeling restless or experiencing a lack of energy, which may be expressed as anxiety, worry, panic, depression, frustration, resentment, angry or rage, or having no interest in the world or in our own survival. We may also experience symptoms such as being threatened, chronically feel as if we don't fit in or belong, and experience insecurity and low self esteem. Mental signs of imbalance is poor focus, being disorganized, pessimism, negative thinking about life and narrow thinking. Great ways to heal/open your Root Chakra, is to burn muladhara incense and essential oils. Aromatherapy has powerful healing properties that awaken feelings of safety and security, Earthy essential oils, candles, or incenses like sandalwood, cypress, cedarwood, rosewood, patchouli, cloves, black pepper, and ginger. Repeat positive affirmations about safety. The repetition of affirmations helps set intentions for breaking old patterns and creating new ones. to openthe Root chakra, repeat affirmations that relate to home and safety. I am always safe i love my body My home is safe and secure i am financially secure The universe will always provide for me Practice postures that stabilize your Root chakra Yoga helps connect the spiritual and physical of the body through postures, called asanas. Connecting to the breath while holding asanas helps to release tensions and open the Root chakra. Such poses include mountain, squat, warrior, goddess, and child's pose. Reconnect with the earth You can practice mindful walking on the grass, sand, or dirt while barefoot to recharge your energy with the earth, spending more time in nature. Healing from the past insecurity whether your feel safe now often has less to do with your current resources and more to do with how secure you felt as a child. Balancing the Root chakra might mean slowly healing from events that happen in the past associated with home, family, safety, and security.
